Alina Habba has left her position as New Jersey's top federal prosecutor. This comes after a judicial decision that invalidated her right to hold the office.
Acceptance of Resignation
The head of the Justice Department, Pam Bondi, accepted Habba's resignation on the start of the week. She commented that the appeals court finding made it unworkable for the official to effectively run her office.
"Do not interpret compliance for surrender," Habba stated. "This battle will now reach across the nation."

The departure was triggered by a judicial panel ruled that she had been serving in violation of the law as the federal prosecutor. This judgment is likely to affect scores of legal proceedings in the Garden State.

The 41-year-old attorney, was initially recruited to the former president's legal defense in 2021. She later acted for the former president in his business records case in 2024, leading to his conviction on 34 counts of financial record manipulation.
