American entertainer Finn, who featured in iconic programs like Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed at the age of 60.

The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California recently following cancer treatment beginning in 2022, according to reports.

"He considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he didn't know yet," his relatives said in a announcement.

They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".

An Extensive TV Career

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a regular part on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, playing a social organizer who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.

Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on several popular shows, including:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

His most famous role for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.

His film credits include "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Outside of his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was part of a six-person improv troupe named Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn guided, supported, and advised countless students over the years and it would be difficult to find a person anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote publicly.

Pat Finn is remembered by his spouse Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
