New Details Come to Light About the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Bodies

Recent details have emerged concerning the tragic passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their Los Angeles home home on Sunday.

The Discovery

A source indicates quoting a person close to the family, a therapist scheduled for an appointment initially became concerned after being unable to gain access the house. This individual then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.

When she went into the house, Romy came upon her father's body. Accounts indicate she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. A companion who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Afterward, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Developments

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently being held and is ineligible for bail.

Clarifications

The anonymous source challenged several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the grounds, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.

Additionally refuted circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's conduct in recent weeks. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation applies to accounts of reportedly "unstable" conduct by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. Although the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they maintained that claims of a "blow-up" between the two were not correct.

Investigation Timeline

According to law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts noted the condition of their bodies implied they had been dead for some hours.

Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the residence. He was scheduled to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
