Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a large-scale and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is unclear and the US has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.
It said debris landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
