British tennis star Emma Raducanu ends her season and will keep trainer for 2026.
Raducanu reached the third round in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slams this year.
The British tennis star Emma Raducanu will not compete in her final two events this season as a result of a health issue she has been fighting for the last week and a half.
Raducanu, aged 22 was due to play in events in Asia but opted to return home to rest and recuperate prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season.
Those preparations are set to feature coach Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together for the upcoming season.
Raducanu had her blood pressure taken while playing the initial match versus Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.
She again required a visit from the doctor at this week's Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.
Her movement was noticeably restricted in the deciding set in the match with Zhu owing to back discomfort that has been a concern during parts of the season.
These outcomes signaled a promising season, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 after more than three years in more than three years, concluded with three straight losses.
She held three match points prior to falling to Pegula in the third stage in last month's Beijing event.
The player achieved 28 victories in the current season and advanced to the semis in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami event in March.
As Britain's top player reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed on the way then falling in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.
She worked with Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role in time for the US Open.
The original arrangement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was through the season's conclusion but the collaboration persists, with a training session scheduled for the end of the year.
Raducanu told that her three-day trial with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.
The player was close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati in August.
The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
