Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's understandable for questions to be asked about his future following another convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in twelve games, representing the team's worst streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received a lot of backing from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular discussions I feel the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted recurring failings from his squad in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a period of this nature with results like these.”

Jones stated, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to the top, show everyone once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
